“My paintings have a wide range of subject matter with varying degrees of realism and abstraction. The question ‘what is real?’ is one of the themes in my art. I love to stumble across ‘found art’ in nature and abstract around the real so that viewers find themselves asking ‘where does the real become unreal?’ My work entitled ‘The Old Country Store’ for example has a photo-real window with dust in the abandoned store in the center of the piece, around which the abstraction begins and finally ends with an electric blue sky.
At the opposite ends of the spectrum are my most abstract piece, ‘Pandemonium #1’ and ‘Point at Barren River Lake’, which is my best example of photorealism. I love playing with this theme of ‘what is real?’!
